Sonya Ellis Head Coach
Level 4 Athletics Coach – combined events & level 3 middle distance coach
Sonya is an experienced coach and has coached athletes to GB level in sprints, sprint hurdles, High Jump and long jump She also has a particular interest and has experience in coaching athletes with a range of disabilities. She is qualified to level 4 in combined events (sprints, hurdles, high jump, long jump, middle distance, shot, discus, javelin and pole vault) plus is Level 3 in middle distance and level 2 for all events (sprints and hurdles, jumps, throws, middle distance and working with children).
She also has an NVQ 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
Sonya has been head coach for EUAC for 10 years now and has supported the growth and development of the club
Dave Phillips Endurance coach
Level 3 Athletics Coach -endurance
Dave is an experienced coach and has coached athletes in a number of local clubs including South West Road Runners and Exeter Harriers. He has a particular interest in road running and cross country and started volunteering to help EUAC last year.
Jean Fail Sprints Assistant coach
Coach Assistant sprints and hurdles focus
Jean helps coach a range of events but mainly the hurdles and sprints – she is also still competing and is currently European Gold medallist in the Women’s Vets 70 for both 200m and Sprint hurdles. She volunteers in her second sessions for EUAC and enjoyed attending BUCS outdoors assisting Sonya last year.
Rob Grew Sprints coach
Level 4 Athletics Coach -sprints
Rob is an experienced coach and joins us for this first time this term- he has coached athletes mainly in 400m / 400m hurdles and this will be his main focus in EUAC.
Terry Harry Throws coach
Level 3 Athletics Coach -throws
Terry is a very experienced heavy throws coach and has supported the university for the past couple of years. He can’t attend every session but works to a high standard and is an important member of the coaching team.
